Dev Log 2: Introduction the Trotson Radio

Dearest Community,
We are so excited to announce the Trotson game mechanic, which will be featured in our upcoming game, Project Vertex. The Trotson radio is a handheld radio offering a variety of sounds from radio stations and mixtapes to let players rest their minds, sit back, and enjoy music. As you play the game, you will also discover mixtapes scattered across the world, each telling stories hidden behind powerful songs and even more powerful memories.
France, during the late 1970s and early 1980s, was a wild time for radio. In a world where censorship was used to silence people, Radio Libres (Radio Pirates) began to emerge. Fearless pirates who weren’t afraid of hacking into the airwaves to convey a simple message, to break through the commercialized and monopolized radio, and give the airwaves music back to the people! Something that we small indie developers know all too well: Game development isn’t an easy industry to enter, so we are paving our own way.
One of the radio stations we will feature in our game is called PêcheFM. This radio station will empower emerging indie artists by adding their sound to our Trotson Radio and granting them full permission to use our platform to launch it.
We invite both new and established artists to submit their music to our game and share their sound with the world. Join the pirate revolution! Vive la révolution!
It is our belief as a game studio built by volunteers, indie artists, and musicians alike to share in the spirit of celebrating what you’ve built as a musician and to resonate that in our own game.
Sincerely,
Rustling Leaves Games

A Tribute to Uncle Jean-Luc Héridel
Some of us were fortunate enough to spend time with radio libres such as Jean-Luc Héridel. Jean-Luc believed that everyone had a right to create music, and that it was his responsibility to share that music even when others told him otherwise. Jean-Luc wouldn’t take no for an answer, and if we as a society have learned anything from Marvel or D.C. Comics, it’s that it’s not the superpowers that make up the hero, it’s the actions and words that make a difference. Jean-Luc was a firm believer in his mission as a radio libres not only to share music with the world but to help educate and advocate for new artists. He is just one of the pirates who inspired the Trotson Cassette Radio.

English Translation:
M’radio: The Resurgence of Jean-Luc Heridel
As the community radio station heads towards the end of its broadcasts, its president maintains a fragile hope and launches a petition.
Jean-Luc Héridel appeals to supportive writers. In a press release, the president of M’Radio 98.8 believes that the disappearance of the only free, citizen-run, community-based, and non-commercial local radio station in the Lorient region would be the death of a symbol of freedom of expression and local democracy. A resister at heart, after celebrating 25 years of M’Radio (formerly Radio Méduse), I cannot resign myself to financial agony in the coming months, or even weeks. However, I want to believe that there is still time to mitigate the damage. I also want to believe that it is possible to mobilize to support not only the survival of M’Radio, but the principle of the existence of a free, independent, community-based local radio station providing information and freedom of expression. A free and citizen-run radio station, open and accessible to all people, regardless of their differences, origins, or culture
Jean-Luc Héridel proposes a form of support as follows: Because community organizations are a place for free expression. They foster social connection because they address everyone without a marketing target and break down barriers through the voices of marginalized people. They are bold. They are run by volunteers. They enrich minds because they are the last line of defense against the concentration of media, information, and speech by large groups. To be able to continue providing support and in solidarity with everything that allows free expression.
Note: This is a work in progress - visuals and gameplay subject to change.
